Professional Role

Sumedha is a Law Clerk at Workers’ Rights Legal Group, where her responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting complaints, and managing evidence. She believes that active listening and humility toward the lived experiences of others are essential traits for legal professionals to remain responsive and accountable to their clients.

Education

Sumedha is currently a second-year student at UCLA School of Law, specializing in Public Interest Law and Policy. She earned her undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College, focusing on Economics, Labor History, and Climate Justice.

Her academic background also includes a specialized year studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Wadham College, Oxford University.

Commitment to Workers’ Rights

Motivated by her work on California’s Garment Worker Protection Act, Sumedha joined the firm to protect workers against discrimination and wage theft. She is dedicated to advancing equitable labor protections through both legal advocacy and community engagement.

Outside the Office

In her free time, Sumedha enjoys hiking, hot yoga, and visiting art museums. She also volunteers with the LA Regional Food Bank and co-leads a legal intake clinic at the Black Workers’ Center.
