ANGEL PLUAS, Managing Partner
Angel Pluas is a proud graduate of the California university system having attended UCLA School of Law and Cal Poly, Pomona. While at UCLA, Angel was honored to serve as Co-Chair of La Raza Law Students Association (now the LatinX Law Students Association) and was also a Managing Editor of the Chicano Latino Law Review. While in law school, he pursued his passion for civil rights and social justice in underserved communities by interning at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) and the Los Angeles County’s Office of Independent Review (OIR), which investigated police brutality and corruption in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After law school, Angel worked for several years as an Associate Attorney at an employment defense firm where he litigated numerous employment and civil rights cases.
Desiring to work on behalf of individuals and not institutions, in 2013 he formed Workers’ Rights Legal Group (Milon Pluas LLP) with long-time friend and colleague Joshua Milon, where he has successfully represented hundreds of clients most of whom being persons of color from marginalized communities in employment disputes, including sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, defamation, sexual assault, age discrimination, whistleblower claims, etc.
At Workers’ Rights, Angel has been trial counsel in dozens of trials and arbitrations and is also the firm’s lead appellate counsel. He is particularly proud of his contribution to the legal field via his published opinion in Najarro v. Superior Court (2021) 70 Cal.App.5th 871, which expanded workers’ rights when confronted with mandatory arbitration agreements by the employer.
When not trying cases or writing appeals, being a bit of a foodie Angel loves to discover new restaurants with delicious food, particularly small, family-owned establishments that are often overlooked. He also loves to read good history books, ideally while travelling the world, having already visited over two dozen countries and counting. Seeing the Turkish countryside at sunrise from a hot air balloon is one of his favorite travel memories so far.
A native of Ecuador, Angel is fully bilingual in Spanish.
